It's the last day of my #CaptivatingComposition challenge, and today is all about creating perspective in your captures! 🖼 . When you place objects in the foreground and background of your image, you’re creating a sense of depth that helps make the viewer feel like they’re right there in frame, gazing at your subject. 🔍 . And because the items in the foreground and background are often out of focus, it helps make your frame look more full + “lived-in” *without* having the objects distract from your subject. 🪄 . It's an *incredibly* simple composition tool and I use it in pretty much every single one of my images 😅 . And if you're just finding out about the challenge, don't fret! You can grab all the composition techniques and tips via the link in my profile 👍 . And make sure to check out my IG stories for some of my favorites from yesterday's theme 'Get Busy', and the #Captivating Composition hashtag for an insane number of jaw-dropping images that will inspire you beyond belief! 🤩 . To everyone who participated or enjoyed watching the fruits of the challenge, thank you so, *SO* much. I cannot tell you how deeply inspired I am by all of your creativity, and how humbled I feel to be a part of such an **insanely talented** and collaborative community. You guys are the absolute best and I am sending each and every one of you a big mental hug! 💗 . Love you all + have a fantastic Friday!!! . . . . . . . . #useyourcreativenoodles #foodstylingphotography #foodstylingprops #foodstylingandphotography #foodstyle #foodstylist #foodography #foodstyling #cakedesign #cakestagram #prettycake #cakesofig #cakedecor #ihavethisthingwithcolor #colorlover #coloraddict

It's the second-to-last day of my #CaptivatingComposition challenge, and today is all about getting busy inside your frame. 🍋 . When we hear the word ‘busy’ in styling, it’s sometimes used with a negative connotation, but when it’s done right, it can create an absolutely jaw-dropping image that’s a literal feast for your viewer’s eyes. 🤩 . When we see a bounty of produce, it taps into the evolutionary part of our brain that had to forage for food, and grabs and holds our attention.🪄 . I love playing with harmonious colors with busy frames, too, since it helps it feel cohesive (and not overwhelming) if you stick to 2 to 3 different color families. In this frame I have gold, sage, and a little bit of tan going on. . You can learn more about my techniques for creating a busy-yet-beautiful composition + join the free challenge via the link in my profile! 👆 . I'll be sharing some of my favorites from yesterday's 'Minimal' entries on my IG stories today, so make sure to take a peek at those + the #CaptivatingComposition hashtag for a dash of dreaminess and beauty in your day! 🥰 . Happy Thursday, friends!! . . . . . . . #firstweeat #foodphotoshoot #photographytips #eatpretty #foodphotography #foodphotographyandstyling #foodphotographer #lemons #foodphotographyprops #foodphotograpy #foodphotoprops #foodstylist #foodphotography📷

It's Day 3 of the #CaptivatingComposition challenge, and today is all about minimalism! Sometimes with styling, less is more, and it can help draw your viewer's eye to the few items that you've selectively left in frame. 🍅👀 . I find it especially helpful when you have a subject that’s very busy and bold (like the above). In cases like this, it looks better to have fewer objects in frame, so that your image allows your subject to shine and be the star of the capture, without it feeling super overwhelming for the viewer to look at. 😅 . You can learn more about composition + join the free challenge via the link in my profile! 👍 . I'll be sharing some of my favorites from yesterday's 'Frame Within a Frame' entries on my IG stories today, so definitely check those out + the #CaptivatingComposition hashtag for an absolutely BONKERS amount of gorgeous captures! 🤩 . I literally *couldn't* stop smiling yesterday because of all the incredibly inspiring + beautiful images I kept seeing in the challenge. I'm constantly amazed by this community and am so grateful to be a part of it 💚 You guys are the best! . Can't wait to see what you've created today! 😆 . . . . . . . #seasonalfood #produceisbeautiful #eatrealfood #moodyfoodphotography #tasteofsummer #heirloomtomatoes #foodstylingphotography #foodstylingprops #foodstylingandphotography #foodstyle #foodstylist #foodography #foodstyling #darkfoodphoto
