Engaged, passionate, and dedicated people like yourself who genuinely care about ocean conservation are #TurningTheTide for our planet. We want to take a moment to recognize the 6,300 of you who have chosen to become members of The Tide, our community of donors who give monthly to support vital ocean projects, innovators, and impact organizations that put equity and the environment first. Working together towards collective goals and conservations wins, we are truly making a tangible impact. Thank you for your generosity and commitment. We could not do what we do without you. Together, with your support, we directly fund community-based conservation efforts around the world. Just this past month, we supported the Bahamas National Trust to help them with the creation of new MPAs, thanks to you. We also participated in @catislandkita’s mission at Cat Island Conservation Institute (@cicibahamas ) to train local Bahamian citizen scientists. Each month, you’ll receive a detailed impact report outlining exactly how donated funds are benefitting grassroots conservation efforts. Every single donation to The Tide matters and we are incredibly grateful for this supportive and devoted community. There has never been a more critical, or more hopeful, time to act. Join The Tide today at the link in our bio and together we can continue to make major strides in conservation. Video by @PaulNicklen #turningthetide #oceanconservation #whitewolf #wildlifephotography

Earlier this month the Biden Administration announced it plans to reverse several Trump-era policies related to the Endangered Species Act. Details include re-instituting protections for species categorized as threatened and removing economic considerations for species categorization. Previous policies had removed protections for species such as grey wolves and spotted owls, for example, and reduced safeguards of critical habitats. Nearly 25,0000 people have already called on the new administration to support an Ocean Agenda in the United States and, so far, President Biden has been delivering on these priorities. While the Biden Administration does offer hope through their renewed promises and commitments, we still have considerable work to do. Did you know that manatees evolved from the same land animals as elephants over 50 million years ago? Can you see the resemblance? These gentle, slow-moving, sweet-natured manatees are listed as 'vulnerable' on the IUCN red-list. Unfortunately, manatees have suffered significantly in the last century, with their populations only now recovering — just one example of how critical it is for vulnerable species to have legal protection. In the coming months, we’ll continue to push our campaigns to put a permanent end to Pebble Mine in Alaska, ban the use of deadly driftnets, and stop plastics production and pollution from harming communities. Please help us draw attention to several other opportunities the new administration has to tackle the climate crisis. Head to the link in our bio to sign the petition to call on President Biden to take eight important actions for the ocean.
